South China Sea Philippines to allow Barbie movie but wants map blurred
The film was prohibited in Vietnam for purportedly depicting the nine-dash line on a map.
The line is noteworthy because it is used by China to establish its globally disputed claims in the South China Sea.
However, censors in the Philippines claimed the map was cartoonish
The Philippines Movie and Television Review and Classification Board stated that it evaluated the film twice and engaged both foreign affairs authorities and legal experts.
It stated that it was sure that the animation was a make believe journey of Barbie from Barbie Land to the real world and that it was integral to the story.
