Student Fight Between Barisal University and BM College: Hundreds Wounded

A violent clash between students from Barisal University and BM College erupted today, resulting in injuries to hundreds of individuals. The conflict broke out on campus and quickly escalated, leading to significant disruptions and damage.

82 of the injured are admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (Shebachim) Hospital. The clash took place between 1 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday. There is tension in both the campuses in this incident.

Students at Barisal University claimed to have a long-standing land dispute with the family of Tasnubha Chowdhury Zoa, a resident of the city’s Baptist Mission Road. An altercation broke out between some BM College students on Monday night when they went to Zoa’s residence pretending to be the coordinator to resolve the conflict. Zoa posted a live need for assistance on Facebook at that moment. Upon learning of the news, his fellow university students were physically assaulted by the BM College students.

According to local sources, hundreds of students have been injured, with varying degrees of severity. Emergency services and medical personnel have been mobilized to provide aid and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. The exact number of injuries is still being assessed, but the scale of the incident suggests that it could be one of the most severe student clashes in recent history.

The violence also caused significant damage to campus property, including classrooms, administrative buildings, and other infrastructure. Authorities are investigating the extent of the damage and assessing the overall impact on university operations.

Authorities are actively working to manage the situation and restore normalcy to the campuses. Investigations are underway to determine the causes of the clash and to hold those responsible accountable.
