Taufiq-e-Elahi, Sheikh Hasina’s Advisor on Energy and Power, was Detained

Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, the advisor on electricity, energy, and mineral resources to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has been taken into custody by the police. Last Tuesday, he was taken into custody in the capital city of Gulshan. Numerous cases are known to be filed against him.

Meanwhile, Gazipur Metropolitan Awami League Advisory Board member Riaz Mahmud Aynal and former Additional Attorney General Barrister Md. Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury have been detained for attempting to enter the country illegally.

This information has been informed in the press release sent from the police headquarters. It is said that they have been arrested by Jhenaidah District Police. They are the accused in separate murder cases filed at Adabar and Gazipur police stations in Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
