A tragic shooting unfolded at a school in Graz, Austria, resulting in the deaths of several individuals, including students. According to local media reports cited by the BBC, the incident occurred at a school named BORG Dreierschützengasse, prompting a major police response.

Euro News reported that the shooting took place on Tuesday, June 10, leaving at least five people dead and several others injured. Meanwhile, NBC News, citing Austrian local media, stated that at least eight people were killed in the attack.

Austria’s national broadcaster ORF said police launched a large-scale operation at the school that lasted nearly an hour following the incident. Police spokesperson Fritz Grundnig told ORF that there may have been fatalities, and it is suspected that the shooter took their own life.

The Austrian police confirmed that a security operation was still ongoing, with helicopters deployed over the Dreierschützengasse area. However, they have yet to release official casualty figures, according to the BBC.

Austria Press Agency later reported that the mayor of Graz, Elke Kahr, confirmed that nine people were killed in the school shooting. Among the deceased were the suspected gunman, seven students, and one adult.

Local tabloid Kronen Zeitung also reported eight fatalities, though details remain unconfirmed by authorities.
