The body of Muslim laborer Uddin Milon has been removed from the grave for an autopsy. He was slain on July 19 in Rangpur during the anti-discrimination student action.
On Sunday afternoon, the court ordered the exhumation of his body from the Munsipara cemetery in the city, which was where he passed away 58 days prior.
In the presence of the case’s investigating officer, District Assistant Commissioner (Land), Executive Magistrate Ahmed Sadat, law enforcement officials, and the deceased’s family, Milon’s body was unearthed and taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem. On July 19, Milon was shot and killed in the City Bazar neighborhood of Rangpur city amid a struggle between police and leaders and activists of the Awami League. On July 20, his body was buried without an autopsy. Milon worked as a goldsmith in a jeweler’s store on Dewanbari Road and lived in the East Ganeshpur neighborhood of Rangpur city.
A murder case was filed on August 27 by Milon’s wife, Dilruba Akhtar, citing 17 individuals, among them Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, a former speaker of the National Parliament and member of parliament from Rangpur-6 constituency.
