The Met Office in BD has issued a notice for a three-day heatwave.

The present heatwave is predicted to persist in much of the country, according to a 72-hour countrywide heat notice issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) yesterday.

Meteorologist Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik said, “Discomfort may increase due to high humidity during this period.” Meanwhile, Chuadanga reached this season’s hottest temperature for the fourth straight day yesterday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 41.5°C at around 6:00 pm. Previously, Chuadanga recorded 40.6°C on Tuesday, 40.8°C on Wednesday, and 40.4°C on Thursday. A wheather specialist said that around 3:00 pm, Chuadanga, Meherpur and Jhenaidah recorded the maximum temperature of the season, 41.3°C. But around 6:00 p.m., it rose to 41.5°C. It was also the hottest temperature recorded in the nation to date.

The district administration has issued a heat alert owing to the extreme heat. Loudspeaker announcements were made in strategic locations across the district town to notify the people. They were urged not to leave their homes unless absolutely essential. Residents were encouraged to be especially cautious around youngsters and the elderly.

Even animals are struggling with the intense heat.Hospitals are seeing an increase in patients with heat-related illnesses.
