The Padma Bridge

Padma Setu or Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a multipurpose road and rail bridge built over the Padma River in Bangladesh. Through this, Shariatpur and Madaripur districts have been connected with Lauhjong of Munshiganj. Construction Start Date: November 26, 2014 and launched: June 26, 2022

Location: It connects the south-central region of Bangladesh, specifically the Munshiganj district near Dhaka, with the southwest region, including Madaripur and Shariatpur districts.

Purpose: The bridge serves both road and rail traffic, enhancing connectivity between various parts of Bangladesh. This is crucial for improving transportation infrastructure and reducing travel time between different regions.

Project Timeline: Construction began in 2014, and the bridge has been constructed in phases. It represents a major investment in infrastructure by the Bangladesh government, with the aim of boosting economic growth and regional integration.
