U.S. intelligence determines that “Havana syndrome” is not produced by a foreign adversary.

According to the results of a US intelligence assessment, the “Havana syndrome” illness that affects US diplomats, spies, and other personnel around the world is “very unlikely” to be caused by a foreign foe.

First noted by US embassy authorities in Cuba in 2016, the illness has been associated with migraines, nausea, memory loss, and dizziness.

US federal departments and organizations have reported about 1,500 incidents, some of which are from this year. The inquiry, which lasted more than two years and involved more than 90 countries, was carried out by seven of the 18 US intelligence organizations.

In the US, the FBI launched a criminal investigation. Even the notion that aliens might be to blame was entertained by the agencies, but they rejected it.

According to the evaluation, “medical, environmental, and social factors can explain” a wide range of symptoms. The inquiry, which encompassed more than 90 nations, employed hundreds of US intelligence personnel along with other officials and outside experts.

The latest attacks on the Pentagon have been thoroughly investigated by the US intelligence community using a variety of techniques, such as looking into potential Russian involvement, interviewing people, going over recordings, developing specialized sensors, making 3-D models of the incident locations, identifying people and buildings nearby, and tracking license plates. Electronic device tracking of persons, including arms dealers, was another aspect of the inquiry. The seven US intelligence agencies that carried out the inquiry had differing degrees of confidence in the conclusions, according to the unclassified report.

The US intelligence community is overseen by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which declared that agencies would keep looking into the occurrences and helping people who report them. There’s also an ongoing review at the Pentagon. The director of the CIA declared that the results do not cast doubt on the experiences and health problems that US government employees and their families have disclosed. According to the first US intelligence official, the agencies discovered the “inside thinking” of some rivals without identifying them and noticed confusion about the problem among foreign adversaries. Providing support and medical attention to US employees who report symptoms will continue to be a high priority, according to statements from the State Department and the White House.
