Everything was there in the USFL’s inaugural game, including a score in the last minute to seal the victory. The score, which came from Stallions quarterback J’Mar Smith, helped the Birmingham Stallions defeat the New Jersey Generals 28–24 in a thrilling comeback game.
In the fourth quarter, the two teams scored 24 points in total, with Smith scoring on a 2-yard touchdown run with 29 seconds remaining. With 1:54 remaining, Nick Rose’s 47-yard field goal gave the Generals the lead, and Smith’s touchdown came just moments later.
Smith then recorded the first victory of the USFL’s 2022 season, leading the Stallions on a 59-yard drive that proved to be the game-winning play. Even though they gained an incredible 222 yards of rushing, including 98 yards and a touchdown from quarterback Demanders Johnson, the Generals still lost.
