Violence in Nepal: Bangladesh Embassy Advises Citizens to Stay Indoors
Amid ongoing violent protests across Nepal, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu has issued an urgent advisory for Bangladeshi nationals currently residing in the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the embassy strongly advised Bangladeshi citizens to avoid going outside and to remain safely indoors at their current location or hotel. The embassy also urged those planning to travel to Nepal to postpone their visit until further notice.
According to reports from BBC and Al Jazeera, widespread protests have erupted across Nepal following a government-imposed ban on 26 social media and messaging platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, WhatsApp, and X. The protests, largely led by members of Gen Z, have turned violent in multiple cities.
Clashes between protesters and security forces have so far left 21 people dead, with at least two more fatalities reported on Tuesday. Despite curfews imposed in key districts including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, demonstrations continued.

Facing intense public pressure, Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned today, and the government has officially lifted the ban on social media platforms.
