Where you need to wear a mask in Italy from 1 May
The Italian government has abolished the necessity to wear masks in many indoor public locations as of Sunday, May 1st, but has kept the rule in some circumstances in place until June 15th.
Bars and restaurants (indoor and outdoor), stores, malls, post offices, banks, nightclubs, public offices, gyms, hair salons, barbershops, and beauticians will no longer require masks starting on May 1.
However, the government has issued a “recommendation” to use masks in crowded enclosed public spaces.
Masks have to be worn on all public transportation, in theaters and movie theaters, in hospitals and care facilities, during indoor sporting events and concerts and in schools and universities until June 15th.
