Yunus informs Sky News that Hasina will stand trial, either in person or in absentia.

In a recent interview with Sky News, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus announced that ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will stand trial for crimes against humanity, regardless of her physical presence in Bangladesh.

Hasina, currently in exile in India, is accused of overseeing a system of enforced disappearances and the mass killing of protesters during her time in office.

Yunus emphasized that the trial would proceed whether Hasina is present in Bangladesh or in absentia. The Bangladesh tribunal has issued two arrest warrants for her, and formal letters have been sent to New Delhi, though no official response has been received.

Yunus recently visited one of the infamous secret jails, code-named the ‘House of Mirrors,’ and described it as “the ugliest thing that you can see, you can feel, or you can observe”. The trial aims to bring justice to the victims and hold all those involved accountable.
