Hollywood Says, We Did It, in Response to Potential SAG-AFTRA, AMPTP Deal

Hollywood people responding to SAG-AFTRA’s tentative agreement with studios and streamers on Wednesday include actors.

After weeks of reopened discussions and 118 days into the actor strike, a new three-year contract was agreed upon. The agreement will be sent to the union’s national board for approval on Friday, and the strike will cease at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday. Should the agreement be approved, the contract may be implemented shortly.

“In a contract valued at over one billion dollars, we have achieved a deal of extraordinary scope that includes ‘above-pattern’ minimum compensation increases, unprecedented provisions for consent and compensation that will protect members from the threat of AI, and for the first time establishes a streaming participation bonus, SAG-AFTRA said in a statement shared with members about the agreement. Our plans will now have much needed value thanks to the significant increase in our Pension & Health caps. Furthermore, the agreement incorporates significant enhancements for several categories, such as substantial pay hikes for supporting actors and crucial clauses safeguarding varied populations.

Actors Mandy Moore, Alec Baldwin, Octavia Spencer, and Noah Schnapp were among those who quickly took to social media following the announcement to express their joy at the strike’s definitive termination.
