Mushfiqur Promises ‘100 Percent Effort’ in His 100th Test
A landmark chapter was written in Bangladesh cricket today as Mushfiqur Rahim stepped onto the field for his 100th Test match, becoming the first Bangladeshi cricketer in history to reach the milestone. The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur turned festive as fans, teammates and officials gathered to celebrate the veteran wicketkeeper-batter’s two-decade-long international journey.
Before the match began, Mushfiqur appeared briefly before the media along with his family. He expressed gratitude to his parents, wife, child, coaches, teammates and fans. Even in the emotional moment, he remained composed and smiling.

Mushfiqur said, “I wish the very best for the future of Bangladesh cricket. I will continue giving my hundred percent—just as I always try to do for my country.”
A small stage was set up on the ground in honour of Mushfiqur’s milestone Test. Hundreds of fans wearing special blue-and-red jerseys filled the stands. The ceremony began with former Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar, who had handed Mushfiqur his debut Test cap years ago, presenting him with a commemorative cap once again.
Former national captain Akram Khan, a member of Bangladesh’s first-ever Test team, followed with another special cap. BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon, debut Test centurion Aminul Islam, and BCB’s Head of Cricket Operations Nazmul Abedin then presented commemorative crests.
Mushfiqur also received a special jersey signed by teammates from both his debut Test and this 100th Test, presented by current Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Habibul Bashar.
Shanto said, “Mushfiqur bhai inspires all of us. We grew up watching him. His dedication on and off the field teaches us what it means to play for the team.”
Long-time teammate and close friend Shakib Al Hasan sent an emotional message to mark the occasion.

Shakib said, “I remember watching every ball of your debut Test at Lord’s from the BKSP recreation room. Since that day, you have inspired me—and countless Bangladeshi cricketers. As long as I play—today, tomorrow, in the future—you will always be my captain.”
Mushfiqur Rahim’s unwavering professionalism, consistency and commitment to Bangladesh over 20 years have made him one of the most respected figures in the nation’s cricket history. His message before the milestone match summed it all up clearly:
“As always, I will give my very best for Bangladesh.”
