Indonesia pulls out of hosting World Beach Games, months after Israel controversy

The 2023 World Beach Games, which were set to take place in Bali next month, have been scrapped after hosts Indonesia abruptly withdrew from the competition.

It comes three months after FIFA deprived Indonesia of the privilege to host the Under-20 Men’s World Cup on the tourist island after the country protested to Israel’s participation.

It was a youth-focused competition that included beach volleyball, sailing, beach soccer, and surfing, and over 1,500 competitors from 100 nations were scheduled to compete in Bali from August 5 to 15.
