Khaleda Zia Able to Receive Treatment, Doctor Urges Public Not to Pay Attention to Rumors
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently able to receive medical treatment, her personal physician and senior party committee member Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain has said. He also urged the public not to pay attention to the various rumors circulating about her health, describing them as baseless.
Dr. Zahid Hossain made the remarks during a press briefing on Tuesday (2 December) at the main gate of Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara, Dhaka, where he provided an update on Khaleda Zia’s latest health condition and ongoing treatment.
He stated that the former Prime Minister has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital since 23 November. Following her admission, a lung infection was detected, and her condition deteriorated. As a result, she was transferred to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) on 27 November, where she is under the continuous observation of specialist doctors.

Dr. Zahid Hossain added that a medical board, led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder and composed of both domestic and international specialists, is overseeing Khaleda Zia’s treatment. The doctors are regularly monitoring her condition and providing necessary medical care as required.
He further said that any decision regarding treatment abroad will be made based on the medical board’s advice and Khaleda Zia’s health condition. A specialist from the United Kingdom is scheduled to examine her today. If the expert determines that she requires treatment abroad and is fit for transfer, she will be sent abroad following proper medical procedures.
Meanwhile, to ensure Khaleda Zia’s safety and medical care, security at Evercare Hospital has been tightened. Barricades have been placed at the hospital entrance, and police presence has been ensured. Precautionary measures have been strengthened to prevent unnecessary crowding within the hospital premises. Hospital sources said these measures aim to facilitate smooth movement for patients and their families while ensuring Khaleda Zia’s security.
